Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1805
Zoom tool should be avaliable on the toolbar as a drop down list box
Last modified: 2003-03-13 10:24:21 UTC
Changing the zoom level is a commonly used tool by users who care about the overall look of their document, moving between far away zooms to get an idea of how their documents look but preferring to edit closer in to their document. Currently, by default, it takes four mouse clicks to change the zoom, by clicking View -> Zoom -> (zoomlevel) -> OK. By default, zoom is not shown on the main toolbar. If it is turned on (provided the user knows how to do this), it stil takes 3 mouseclicks. This seems like a very complicated way to access such a popular tool. Other word processors and spreadsheets create a drop down list box on their main toolbar by default, where a user can select from a variety of predefined zoom levels or enter their own. Star/OpenOffice should do this too.
There is a Zoom Box in the status bar (Below the document) that offers a zoom selection (200, 150, 100, 75, 50%, optimal, page width, entire page) within one mouse click to pop up and another to select. Easy, though different from MS Office, isn't ist? ;-) IMHO, that's enough because those who are in desperate need of (for example) 84.8893% Zoom level, might as well click a few more times as Mike described it above. Reassigned to Falko.
As said by Stefan, this menu entry already exists. Therefore turned down.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
