Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18095
Spreadsheet objects inserted into tables have nonintuitive scaling behavior.
Last modified: 2004-09-10 13:06:32 UTC
Spreadsheet objects that are larger than the table columns in which they reside are scaled to fit in the column. However, rescaling behavior is nonintuitive and sometimes inconsistent. Attached is a Text document which shows some of the phenomena I have observed. Due to inconsistency, some of these examples may not recreate easily, but all should work on a new document (I hope - not all tested). When creating this document, the only changes I made to settings (other than turning autocomplete off) was to hit the "Original Size" button (Object menu, Type tab). Some of the behaviors seem related to the "Relative" and "Keep Ratio" checkboxes on the Type tab, but I never saw these boxes checked. Perhaps a control for scaling percentage on that page is needed. In any case, the behavior needs to be consistent. That is, if objects are being automatically scaled, they should always attempt to automatically unscale themselves. Desireable would be a way to make the table column be the width of the unscaled object, or as wide as its widest unscaled object for tables with multiple objects.
