Due to internal task #103492# we decided that the left-top-corner of
the print/page preview layout (given number of rows and columns) has
not to be left blank. Thus, in a two-columned print/page preview
layout left and right pages are no longer positioned in the left
respectively right column. At this time, we thought, that this feature
only makes sense for documents that represents something like a book
or a news paper.
But, we decided to provide a new function in the print/page preview -
something like 'book preview' -, which will re-activate this feature.
My proposal for this feature - already given partly in internal task
#103492# - is the following:
Provide a new corresponding function (name?, probably 'book preview';
icon?), which can be activated. If activated, the number of columns in
the current print/page preview layout is changed, if it is odd
('incremented' or 'decremented', I propose 'incremented') and left
pages are positioned in odd columns and right pages are positioned in
even columns - the left-top-corner of the print/page preview will be
blank then. The control/dialog to set an appropriated print/page
preview layout should allow only an even number of columns, if this
new function is activated.
Please approve/adjust/change given proposal and give a corresponding
specification. Thx.

It's a good idea to make such mode. Also, I want to recommend this 
mode to be default. I'm basing on my UI psychology practice and I 
think such mode must be made default to new users, especially for 
users coming from Microsoft Word.
Also, I apologize to my language (I'm russian :-) ).

I've added this to our 'todo' list.
