OOO significantly changes the format of Word 2000 documents which have endnotes 
placed at the end of a section. 
 
For instance, if a Word document is formatted like this (with endnote numbering 
starting at 1 in each section): 
 
  Text 1 
  Endnotes 1 
  ---section break--- 
  Text 2 
  Endnotes 2 
  ---section break--- 
  Text 3 
  Endnotes 3 
 
OOO will turn it into: 
 
  Text 1 
  ---break--- 
  Text 2 
  ---break--- 
  Text 3 
  ---break--- 
  Endnotes 1-3 numbered consecutively 
 
In addition, the pages containing Endnotes 1-3 will lose any text in the header 
(page numbers, etc.) 
 
I can attach a sample document and postscript output if anyone wants it.

I don't know that I'd call it a Defect, but rather an enhancement. 
There are two kinds of endnotes: end-of-chapter and end-of-book.  OOo
supports only the last kind, although it really should support both
kinds.  I agree that this is frustrating.  I've been forced to use
another word processor to get end-of-chapter notes which is not what I
want.

Problem persists in OO 2.3 - endnotes vanish completely and without notice (both
the endnotes themselves and the references in the text). Also with only one
endnote section at the end of the document.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
