Description bulbul 2003-09-24 01:15:29 UTC
The fonts used in the HTML version of the Developer's Guide are sometimes close
to unreadable using Mozilla under Linux, even after magnification. I will attach
a screenshot. I'm using Mandrake 9.1 and Mozilla 1.5b.

I use mozilla 1.5 but under windows.

My suggestion is you make another screenshot which is showing actual
url, instead of on your local documents.

try to install more font, look like this is font problem

What difference does it make whether the page is served remotely or
viewed from a local file? In either case, these are files from the OOo
UDK. Whether the file is remote or local will not affect which fonts
are chosen by the browser.

I have indicated the Linux version and Mozilla version i am using.
These are widely deployed versions, so the documents might render
poorly for a great many people, not just me.

This seems to be a Mozilla problem, since Konqueror renders the pages
with quite legible fonts. (That is, it is a matter of how the browser
maps the font names specified in the stylesheet to actual fonts on the
system.) However, the problem could be solved on the UDK side for
better rendering in Mozilla under Linux by changing the font names
specified in the DevelopersGuide.css style sheet. If we didn't want to
touch the original stylesheet, an alternative stylesheet could be
chosen. Mozilla allows the user to apply arbitrary stylesheets to a
document.

The difference is that we simply have no idea if you have the old
version (where this defect still existed) or the new version (where we
think this defect is fixed). So, pleas check if the defect occurs
with the website too. If so, forward it to Jürgen Schmidt
(jsc@openoffice.org). The Developers Guide is his area of expertise.
 Thanks.

Again: I have a recent SDK version and Mozilla/Linux and don't have
this problem.
