Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19964
Migration of look/www/master/images/
Last modified: 2006-02-14 18:47:27 UTC
FAQ documents (e.g. www/www/FAQs/faq-questions.html) contain links to images like http://www.openoffice.org/sharedimages/separator.gif. On the 1.1.3 production site the images are located in look/www/sharedimages and accessible at http://www.openoffice.org/sharedimages/ On the staging site access to shared images with an URL like http://www.solstage2.../sharedimages doesn't work. Where should shared images be placed in CVS and how should URLs access them?

What exactly is the definition of a shared image? If you mean images which can be used/referenced but everyone but can be edited/changed only by the ones who have access to look project then the best place to put them is in look/www/overrides/static/csi/images/ Feel free to create subdirectories inside images if you wish to organize your images. If you place the image directly in the images the way to reference would be: "/branding/images/img.gif" Do you need any more help from me?

> What exactly is the definition of a shared image? I thought of the content which is located in look/www/master/images/... at the production (1.1.3) site. This content is available as /branding/images/.. from every virtual host. > Do you need any more help from me? As I have no staging server available I have to ask. - Where will files accessible in URLs via /branding/images be located in the CVS repository? a) in look/www/master/images/ or b) in look/www/overrides/static/csi/images/? - Will files located in look/www/sharedimages/ accessible via http://www.openoffice.org/sharedimages/? The latter seems not to be the case. That's why the FAQ has broken images. We can replace links to /sharedimages/... with links to /branding/images/...
Beril, could you help us with some answers to the questions? Thanks, Stefan.
sharedimages directory won't work as before. What you need to do is to copy the images from that directory to look/www/overrides/static/csi/images referring to images as /branding/images/x.gif will work after you move the images to the correct location.
Thanks for anwering the second question, Beril. That leaves open the first question. - Where will files accessible in URLs via /branding/images be located in the CVS repository? a) in look/www/master/images/ or b) in look/www/overrides/static/csi/images/? If b) then the next question is how images from look/www/master/images are migrated.
only look/www/overrides/static/csi/images/ can be accessed by branding/images migration has to happen manually.
Can we prepare the migration by creating the directory look/www/overrides/static/csi/images/ in the CVS repository on the 1.1.3 production site and copy our images into this directory?
Changed titel from "FAQ has broken links to images".
That sure would make things easier for me.

look/www/overrides/static/csi/images has been created in the 1.1.3 production CVS repository. I copied the used images from look/www/branding/images. overrides/static/csi/images/blue_bullet.gif overrides/static/csi/images/blue_divider.gif overrides/static/csi/images/dot_divider.gif overrides/static/csi/images/logonew.gif overrides/static/csi/images/spacer.gif overrides/static/csi/images/tinywhitesquare.gif If there are other images missing we can copy them later.
