Description Unknown 2003-09-27 06:10:34 UTC
Issue 19879 shows that menu systems used to display on wrong screen. That has
indeed been fixed.

There are however several OO writer windows that still popup on the wrong
screen. I assume the same goes for other OO applications.

I went over all OO Writer menu options and listed these observed "misses" when
working with OO Writer on the secondary screen ! Since I've gone over all at
least 2 levels, I think I've listed almost all cases.
- Menu options Window>New or File>New>Text document. Opens window on primary
screen, including a complete menu systems, buttons,.... Suggestion: The focus
should remain on the screen the user is working on and new windows should open
there.
- Menu File>Send>Document as e-mail: The subsequent "choose e-mail profile"
popup appears on primary screen. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu Edit>Find and Replace: The subsequent "Find and Replace" dialog box
appears on primary screen. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu View>Full Screen: The subsequent full screen image appears on primary
window. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu Format>Character: The subsequent "Character" dialog box appears on
primary screen. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu Format>Styles Catalog (Ctrl-F11): The subsequent "Character" dialog box
appears on primary screen. However when you click "New" from there,
the "Paragraph style" and "Page Style" dialog boxes appear again on the
secundary screen. New "Character style", "Frame Style" and "Numbering style"
appear on the primary screen. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu Format>Stylist (F11): Popup appears on primary. Same suggestion as above.
- Menu Tools>Data Sources: Dialog box appears off center to bottom right.
Suggestion: Should be centered like other dialog boxes.
- Menu Insert>Fields>Other: Dialog box appears off center to bottom right.
Suggestion: Should be centered like other dialog boxes.
- Menu Tools>Bibliography database: Appears on primary screen. Suggest it
should appear on "current screen", see above.
- Menu Tools>Options: Appears on primary screen. Suggest it should appear
on "current screen", see above.
- Menu Help>Contents: Appears on primary screen. That could be considered OK.
- Menu Help>Support: Appears on primary screen. Suggest it should appear
on "current screen", see above.
- Menu Help>About OpenOffice.org: This one is different. The popup appears
always on the secondary window, even when OO Writer is on the primary window.

Hope this helps

On
- 2. Menu File>Send>Document as e-mail... problem of mail program??

I have to point out a) I used Outlook (the 'pro' version) and that
this window only appears (I think) when OOword has to choose between
several e-mail packages. Once this is configured I believe OOword may
not request it a second time.

I have S3 Savage graphics. Should be able to try next week on Win XP
with other graph card if that is wanted.

changing issue status to NEW, because SUN developer could reproduce parts of issue.

SSA: reassign to HDU, please keep in mind that dialogs that were once opened are
always restored to the absolute position they formerly had. This is done by SFX.
So if you move the application window to another screen, all dialogs will still
open on the first screen if they were initially displayed there. Please discuss
a better approach with PL.

Comment 8 hdu@apache.org 2006-02-01 12:55:06 UTC
Since issue 3428 is supposed to be fixed in SRX643, which was before OOo1.1.5
this probably is not a duplicate.
Comment 9 hdu@apache.org 2006-02-01 12:55:42 UTC
Adding the issue to my pile.

@pl: this issue is probably a duplicate to one of your multi-monitor issues
