Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20770
Want to subscribe with multiple addresses
Last modified: 2012-04-13 05:39:01 UTC
I've always been missing mailing list support for people who (like me) have several different e-mail addresses or aliases for the same address, though. There really ought to be some way to subscribe with one receiver address and multiple sender addresses.
confirm issue.
sending mail to dev-help@openoffice.org gives the following hint to subscribe alternate adresses: You can start a subscription for an alternate address, for example "john@host.domain", just add a hyphen and your address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word: <dev-subscribe-john=host.domain@openoffice.org> To stop subscription for this address, mail: <dev-unsubscribe-john=host.domain@openoffice.org> In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.
That's not quite what I meant. If I subscribe like that, I will get one copy for each address of any mailing list message, and I want only one in total. I want to be able to add one "master" address and multiple "slave" addresses, where the "master" receives messages and the "slaves" do not, but both the "slaves" and "master" addresses are accepted when checking From in messages sent to the list. I can probably produce the effect I want by adding the slave addresses via the above mentioned interface (after the master is already a member), then disabling mail delivery via user options for each of them. What I was asking for, was some way to simplify/automate that process - and possibly a way to describe the relation between the addresses for management purposes. (I.e. somehow encode the information that these are addresses that belong to the same person, in the list config.) Might be a WONTFIX because such an option isn't valuable to that many people; I just thought I'd mention it.
we can add your alternate addresses as allowed posters, which means you receive using one alias but can post using any of the ones on file. is that adequate? louis

This is fixed with the move to Apache. The ezmlm-based lists at Apache allow anyone to post, including non-subscribers. So it is not a problem to subscribe with one address and then to post from another. Initially your posts will be caught in moderation, but once it is clear that you are not a spammer the moderator can whitelist your additional email addresses.
