Description turpcalles 2003-11-01 05:56:19 UTC
The ruler, page, and fonts are squished together in Write and Presentation. The
length seems okay, giving the paper a very long, narrow look. It's impossible
to read anything as the words appear on top of each other.

The printer is set up in CUPS, HP-950C. Everything prints okay and is legible.

Hi turpcalles,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice...

Please try our newest version and send a new comment if your problem
occurs again...

If there's no new comment until 12/04/2003 I assume this works now and
I'll have to close this Issue ...

set to worksforme

Hi MCI,

Thanks for your input. I thought about that also. I'm using ??-5m19
build 869, which I think is your newest version. It did this with
one included on Redhat 8 several months ago when I first started
trying on Linux. I've reinstalled and downloaded Linux AND
OpenOffice several times on 2 different boxes. It only worked once
for 1 session. I'm more comfortable with Linux now, and would rather
not keep resinstalling it. Has anyone heard of anyone else having
this problem? or is it just me?

Hi turpcalles,

it looks like we need more info :)

Please attach the output of "xdpyinfo" to this Issue ...

I assume your OOo setting for the papersize is "letter" or do you use a
pagewidth of nearly 7cm???

The XF86config file may help, too...

Thanks again, I've uploaded xdpyinfo and I'll upload XF86config shortly. You're
correct about the paper size, It's set to "Letter". Selecting a different paper
size will change it relative to the Letter size, but it will still be squished.

My bad. It took a couple of tries to do it, but this should be what you

Comment 18 turpcalles 2003-12-12 18:08:18 UTC
Hi MCI,

I found the problem! When I selected my monitor during setup it did not (ever)
assign the dpi to the screen; obviously important to formatting text in Open
Office. The Display setting screen in Redhat had the dpi as "Unknown". I had to
reinstall OO to get it to work afterwards, but everything is in order now.

Would it be possible to set up a default in case there is no value?

Again, thank you for your support, and pointing me in the right direction. There
is no way I'm getting out of this one without looking embarrassment.

Thanks again.
