When you trying to insert a value in Open Office 1.1.0 Spreadsheet cell, you
are be able to change its Number Format to either Currency (with $ sign) or
Standard. I have changed one of the values in my list to currency format, and
then generated the sum of those values at the end of the list. The summation
of these values showed with the $ sign as it was automatically generated, but
after I change the initial value with currency format back to standard, the
summation value remains with the currency sign. This will definitely create
inconveniences for people working in currency exchange market where currency
and summation functions are often used as combinations.

1. Open Spread Sheet
2. Insert 0 in A1, and highlight it
3. Select “Number Format: Currency” from the top edit toolbar (A1 will change
to $0.00)
4. Insert 0 in A2, and A 3
5. Enter:”=SUM(A1:A3)” in A4, A4 will change to $0.00
6. Highlight A1 and Select “Number Format: Standard” from the top edit toolbar
(A1 will change back to 0.00 w/o the $ sign)
7. A4 remains unchanged with $0.00, Try to change A4 with select “Number
Format: Standard”
8. A4 failed to change back to standard format

Hi,

a hard recalc (CTRL+SHIFT+F9) or entering a value into the summatiuon
range will solve your problem. Therefore I changed the Priority.

Hi Niklas,

what do you think about this ? Shoudn't we trigger a hard recalc on
this actions ?

Thanks for the solution, but the new issue here is:"How would the
user be able to know the hard recalc (CTRL+SHIFT+F9) key???" I
looked through every single short cut key listed in your help menu,
but there isn't a hard recalc or Ctrl+shift+F9 key there??! However,
I still think this may cause lots of inconveniences for users!
