Description lsuarezpotts 2003-11-26 19:48:30 UTC
Hi
The help files for solstage2 are generic to SourceCast and do not include the updated material
specific to OOo, like information on creating projects, ssh2 tunneling, etc.

What process is required to change all these?

Good question. Beril?

Due to changing content we prefer not to override SourceCast default
help files. There are several options.

- The one we like more: It's possible to add links to the yellow
stickies, custom help links to /servlets/HelpTOC and new help files.
In the HelpTOC we can title that section as "openoffice.org help" or
something similar which will indicate that it's specific to ooo

- The one we like less: We override the help files. But in the future
upgrades it's your responsibility to make sure they are updated. If
you choose this option, I would recommend you to take the current SC
help file and edit the contents of it rather than copying over the
help files from current ooo site.

In any case, initially I will have to make these changes. Then you can
edit the files further if you need to.

From my POV, the best alternative is to override select files in the 2.6 Help files and
we edit the files and then have responsibility for updating them (what does that
entail?). On 1.1.3, we have the www/www/docs/ directory, which is where Help files
(not counting TOC) are located; it is editable.

The files we *need* to rewrite--and this is *not* a new thing, it has been understood
as one of OOo's one-offs--include all of the Tunneling information. Further, we need
to add an entry or modify the existing one (easier) on creating a project, as on OOo
only a Domain Admin can create a project, but any observer can propose one.

thanks

agenda:
I will tell Beril which Help files need editing and she'll send me them for editing; I'll
then send them back.

Beril, I need to edit:
in help box:
/scdocs/ProjectMembershipRequest
/scdocs/ProjectAdd
/scdocs/ProjectIssues#aboutIZ
/scdocs/ddCVS
scdocs/ddSSHGuide
scdocs/ddSSHGuideConcepts.html
/scdocs/ddSSHGuideTerminals.html
/scdocs/ddSSHGuideCygwin.html
/scdocs/ProjectOwnerMembers
/scdocs/ProjectIssues
/scdocs/UserEdit -->>> btw, this *should* be changed for all sun sites!

I think that is it.
thanks,
louis

submitted PCN 24498 with edited help files, mainly the tunnelilng, ProjectAd. We can
subsequently edit the Help files. They will be in look/www/branding/help-docs/ , I
believe.

OpenOffice.org should edit closely the Issue Tracker file, /scdocs/
ProjectIssues#aboutIZ.

In the current 2.0.1 download, in Windows XP, the help file access problem
still exists. In version 2.0.0, the problem does not exist.
