Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2333
MIME-TYPES on OOo Web server should be set correctly to open OOo documents directly
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
Please use this MIME-TYPES in your web server that you also can use it with any (modern) browser and without getting garbage on your screen if you open a *.sx* (compressed XML) OOo document or an older one from StarOffice 5.x. [httpd.conf extract of an Apache web server] ... AddType application/vnd.stardivision.chart .sds AddType application/vnd.stardivision.calc .sdc AddType application/vnd.stardivision.writer .sdw AddType application/vnd.stardivision.writer-global .sgl AddType application/vnd.stardivision.draw .sda AddType application/vnd.stardivision.impress .sdd AddType application/vnd.stardivision.math .sdf AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.writer .sxw AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.writer.global .sxg AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.calc .sxc AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.impress .sxi AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.draw. .sxd AddType application/vnd.sun.xml.math .sxm [iPlanet web server] ------------------------------------------------------------ type=application/vnd.stardivision.calc exts=sdc type=application/vnd.stardivision.chart exts=sds type=application/vnd.stardivision.writer exts=sdw type=application/vnd.stardivision.writer-global exts=sgl type=application/vnd.stardivision.draw exts=sda type=application/vnd.stardivision.impress exts=sdd type=application/vnd.stardivision.math exts=sdf type=application/vnd.sun.xml.writer exts=sxw type=application/vnd.sun.xml.writer.global exts=sxg type=application/vnd.sun.xml.calc exts=sxc type=application/vnd.sun.xml.impress exts=sxi type=application/vnd.sun.xml.draw exts=sxd type=application/vnd.sun.xml.math exts=sxm ------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, This request has been entered with our operations department as pcn6719 and I will keep you updated on its status. Thank you Kat
Our instantiations engineer is working on a new inst module of the site to be ready next week that will include this enhancement. Thank you Kat
Also see: http://framework.openoffice.org/documentation/mimetypes/mimetypes.html for full list of MIME-TYPES. Thank you.
Joerg, I have to reprioritize in comparison to other P1.
P1 -> P2
The new inst module with this change has been pushed to the staging server for testing.
Joerg, could you please test whether you're satisfied on http://stage01.sfo.collab.net?
Sorry but it does not work with the examples in API project. Get the wrong MIME-TYPE there for.sxw documents.
Hi Joerg, The MIME types were added as specified in the first portion of the issue (Apache web server is being used). Is this the only MIME type that is giving trouble? Could you please provide an example on the staging server so this may be looked at further? Thank you Kat
See http://api.stage01.sfo.collab.net/source/browse/api/odk/examples/basic/text/modifying_text_automatically/inserting_bookmarks.sxw and download it "text-plain" will be send :-( I have no idea where other .sx? documents could be found. But Netscape 4.x and Mozilla doing the same.
This seems to be functioning properly for files in the Documentation sections of the site, but not for files accessed within CVSWeb. I have enterered this internally on the original ticket for further investigation of this behavior. Thank You Kat
The reason this is happening is that CVSWeb is looking to the mime.types file for this information rather than httpd.conf file where the changes were originally made. A request has been entered to add these types to the mime.types file as well. Thank you Kat
Hi, The modifications have been made to the mime.types file on the staging server. Now by selecting the document, then the revision number there is a prompt to download including the proper mime type in Mozilla. We can move ahead with putting this change on the production site follwing verification. Thank you Kat
Your test server has a corrupted file (we have corrected these files in real life already, may be you should exchange the test server with a newer revision of OOo real server?) but the MIME-TYPE is CORRECT, GREAT!
These changes have been applied to the production server. Thank you Kat
Fine

http://sc.openoffice.org/excelfileformat.sxw does not work. You see garbage on the screen.
reassigning to taska
Reassigning these to support. Here's the current process, for those who weren't at the CollabNet/OpenOffice meeting this week: 1) OpenOffice members should assign new issues to issues@www.openoffice.org (the default owner). 2) Louis will to through new issues and assign them to support@openoffice.org or himself. 3) I will look at new issues, "accept" them, and begin work on them. 4) Issues will remain assigned to support@openoffice.org as the CollabNet team works on them- that way the whole support team is kept abreast of changes, and support engineers other than myself can help out if necessary. Thanks! Taska
I'll take a look at this.
I've submitted this insternally for the instantiations group (PCN7720).
Joerg et al: I am able to download the above example file correctly in Mozilla. It seems to be handling the mimetypes okay for me. Please re-open if you are still having problems with this.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
