Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23688
Shortcut "Alt+C" is missing for cancel buttons
Last modified: 2008-06-12 11:30:08 UTC
OOo does not have the shortcut "Alt + C" for its cancel buttons. OOo should have a shortcut for cancel buttons in order to be consistent with other Gnome applications. This is important because at-tools report on shortcuts in terms of accessibility. Bug was derived from IZ #18521# and should be a cinnabar candidate.
.
fs->obr,mt: I really can't judge the reasonability of this request. Since you're our Accessibility experts: can you?
If setting a target milestone (especially 1.1.2, which has high entry restrictions), there should be a justification. I didn't see one -> resetting target milestone.
Escape is the hotkey for the cancel button... MT->FL: Decide what to do, but keep in mind: - if you do it, then only on UNIX, Windows doesn't do that - What about internationalisation - It may break other mnemonics in current dialogs If you still want it, send it to SSA
FL: Problem is that using this mnemonics for Cancel button will break current one and localisation is another problem as MT stated out. -> Office later, because ESC works.
I regard this issue as to much effort (localization, system dependency etc...) while the ESC key is available (and faster that "Alt" + "C" [2 keys]). In the same time, it grows up the amount of accessibility task we have to present to the reponsonsible authorities. -> OBR, FL, FS: please, give a statement, so that we can close as WONTFIX.
> -> OBR, FL, FS: please, give a statement, so that we can close as WONTFIX. (Are you trying to influence how our statement should look like? :) I would perhaps like more information why this is necessary, since I am not sure I understand the need fully. What does > This is important because at-tools report on shortcuts in terms of accessibility. mean?
re-targeted to OOo 3.0
Well after discussing with RU: - Reason 1: Consistency with other Gnome Apps. - Reason 2: Though it is "well known" that one can cancel a dialog with Esc, it'll be better to set a mnemonic that an AT will be able to anounce explicitely. ->FL: PLease reassign to the responsible developper.
set target to OOo 2.x
Set target to OOo later
added myself to cc list
MD: I re-investigated on this issue and decided to not fix it.
