Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23844
QA needs test documents
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:19:19 UTC
Does QA have test doc, or just based on submitted Issue doc ? In my opinion we must have test doc, to test each release, so we didnt mis if some problem already solved in past version but occured again in new version. CMIIW For Better, easier and faster testing, QA need to have standard testing documents. in various format: OOo, MSO, RTF and others The documents contain various kind of documents formatting and features. when new OOo is ready, we can test using this documents: - Open using OOo, correct/not ? - Save to other format correct/not ? (Doc, RTF, Pdf, ETC) - And editing and then save as, correct or not ? and other testing As base I attach my test doc. but it is still simple testing doc, which didnt contain: Text: rotated ,word art, various indent, various font, ETC Image: contain: BMP, Gif, Jpg, Png (various Bit), rotated, resized, Alignement, Transparent, ETC Table: Complex table, table inside table, variuos cell height, ETC Formatting: standard and complex numbering and bullet. Normal and special page numbering various language And other things. I hope somebody can create good test doc. so OOo will be better and testing will be easier.

Hi Utomo, I think that that it is a good Idea to create some standard test documents, which can be used for regularly tests. MOZILLA users know that DEBUG- function in the menu (see attached 'testtools.png'). utomo's "Openoffice Testing.sxw"shows the principle how that can work, but IMHO we need many documents for specific tests. I can not belive that this idea is completely new - are there any test documents used by development for tests? It will be important to coordinate different test activities and not to waste time for tests, which are already done. The most important thing: this issue will need a coordinator, who will do (or initiate) reviews for the test documents, contact developers, creates the "framework" to make the test tools available, Hi Utomo, I think that that it is a good Idea to create some standard test documents, which can be used for regularly tests. The most important thing: this issue will need a coordinator, who will do (or initiate) reviews for the test documents, contact developers, creates the "framework" to make the test tools available, keeps the test documents actual in the web and so on. Without that, this can not work. Utomo, are you interested? I will try to supply some testcases for HTML (it will take some time), when the question concerning coordination in this issue will be clarified; I will try to use the MOZILLA tests, which will be a good base. Utomo > raineer: Maybe you are correct. but where is it ? Believe it or Not? :) I hope other people will help in this task. Note: your posting is double (use copy paste ? :) ) Sorry: add CC, if not interesting, please remove. Thanks
Created attachment 12099 [details] another test doc, when saved to MSO, opened in word, Weird looking
Openoffice Testing2.sxw when saved to MSO, opened in word, Not only Weird looking, but also become more than 1000 pages, and keep Growinggg. Originally only 4 pages.
Utomo, all .... You don't need to start at zero. There are testdocs and a process definition, how to test new builds: http://qa.openoffice.org/testcase/index.html The documents and the process need a review, for shure. But please keep with that process at the moemnt, as native lang projects will use this process for qa of their localized builds. It was good to have english and localized builds tested against the same files / set of actions.
Thanks andre for the info. However I didnt find such documents for testing layout problem when save to other format or when we import from other format, like what is my sample test file. I download the zip file, it didn't contain any word file. So, I think we need to create another test doc. and maybe we can put it there so others can test using that too.
When I created again the test file, I found another regression on OOo 1.1.1a. I found that OOo 1.1 can export to MS word paragraph background color correctly. but OOo 1.1.1a cannot export it correctly. when opened in word, the Paragraph background color become missing behind text. so it is regression. I didnt know possible regression which we are facing in OOo. Beside that Look like OOo export to MS word/rtf need to be tested more. I found that all image at documents when save to RTF will not appear in MS word. and it is saved outseide the file, instead on the file, like the MS word RTF.
hi utomo, for your regression please open a new issue. i removed all cc's because this guyes will get plenty of mails over this hollydays, one mail for this task will be enough to get attention. best wishes and a happy new year jw
set target to not determined
. next test to remove ALL cc's :) if this is poossible..
.
remove last cc entry :(
