Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23868
Customizable shortcut to font size/name needed
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:38:18 UTC
There should be a default (and customizabled) shortcut to set the font size and font name.
set target not determined
SBA: At times, the way via context menu (Right mouse click) is the easiest. But i.e. having many fonts installed will end up in a lot of scrolling and the "favorites" may be splattered all over the alphabetical list. Workaround: Macros can get triggered via keyboard shortcuts. And a macro may apply hard set character attributes as well as paragraph and/or character styles in order to change font antd/or size (and much more). SBA->3clips3: As a hint, you should get familiar with styles. Character styles enable you to define all character attributes to get get applied when you use that style (best via Stylist, <F11>) Paragraph styles can set all these attributes too (but for the whole paragraph at once) and a lot of other nice stuff too (like paragraph distaces, automatic paga breaks...) I don't know how you work and what your documents look like. But keep in mind that hard-set attributes are "not cool": Imagine rReformatting a 100page document (like, have 14pt instead of 16pt in all headings and all table headings 12pt italic underlined instead of 14pt bold or 16pt underlined and all numberings with a 4cm indent) This will take up to a few hours of "unskilled work" if it was all hard-set. But if you have set all that via styles, it's only a dozen clicks, done in a minute to change all the above at once (be it a 10 or 10000 page document). Reassigned to Bettina.

There's no hot key or shortcut for changing font size of a selected text. In Microsoft Office Word you can change a selected text font size by select the text and simply press ctrl+] to enlarge the text and ctrl+[ to make it smaller. I would appreciate it if Open Office Word Processor would make such a shortcut. You know Its really helpful and helps me not need to get the mouse in my hand while I'm typing a text and then going back again to keyboard. I hope you put this in your next version of the software. Thanks Using Macros isn't something I expected. I need a direct shortcut to change the size of a selected text. this should be an absolute standalone feature like what in Microsoft Office Word. more and more people would face this issue i know. It's something completely clear because changing font is one of the most repeatedly actions done by users. so it needs something direct as a hot key.
