Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23966
Netscape7.02/IE6 cant save, then load someTigris webpages
Last modified: 2012-06-12 09:56:22 UTC
FYI: I visited several openoffice.org websites from site ~2003Oct06 thru 2003Dec29, today. I save web pages with Netscape7.02. In past, could read pages saved. I observe that since transition of your internal page souce's headers change from W3 to Tigris, that I cannot render webpages from within Netscape7.02. Page loads source (which can be viewed, after stopping). Apparently the header, part down to <body> has something which does not process correctly, resulting in a hang (it tried for 3min before I STOPped it). Other new pages, but not all showed similar issues, as noted above. Pages saved in October, were/are all readable with eithe Netscape 7.02 or IE6. Pages in the transition time (when you were converting pages from Sun Logo to Collabnet logo) seem to be the pages effected. Some Collabnet logo pages can be saved and re-read, though not all. The page referenced in the URL field of this email above, can be saved with either NS7.02 or IE6, but netiher can read the page back. In particular, a page from dev_docs/source/tech_overview.html The source code of which follows at the end of this notice, behaves as follows: When the page is opened with IE6, or saved with IE6 then reopened, one gets a RuntimeError in line: 19, Error: Object expected, In MSVisStudio debugger this results in the yellow pointer at the initial<body... tag location. Other pages gathered during the transition period, with the Sun logo, can without fail be saved and read. It is the newer pages with the "powered by Collabnet" logo that seem to sometimes fail, and osmetimes work. Since browser compatibility is key to first looks at the Openoffice.org site, I wanted to flag this behaviour, to help to resolve the issue. I will furnish other information as needed. Further investigation shows that when html pages noted are attempted to be edited with MS Word 2003 (10.5815.4219) SP-2, that the following error message appears: "Problems came up in the following areas during load: Missing file: C:\branding\css\tigris.css Missing file: C:\branding\css\inst.css " Where as Attempting to edit from Netscape7.02.Composer, causes and infinite wait within composer. However The Netscape Browser does load the page (can be seen via veiw.source once browser is stopped).
