We recently switched from Microsoft Office 2000 to OpenOffice 1.1.  We have a 
program that we used to create Excel spreadsheets.  We can't do that now, but 
the program will create PDF files.  We need to be able to open these in 
OpenOffice.  Is there a way to open a PDF file in OpenOffice?

There is no possibility to open pdf in OOo (feture duplicate to 10384). But if
your external program is able to write xls files and pdf files, why don't you
use the xls-import from OOo?
