Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 25434
ISO standard time formats (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM and YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS) missing in cell format selection
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:33:14 UTC
When you want to set the time or date format for a cell the ISO standard formats YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm and YYYY-MM-YY hh:mm:ss are missing. OpenOffice.org as an Open Source project should follow open standards where ever there is one because open standards is one of the best weapens against close source compatitors when governments have to decide which products to use.
Hi Bettina, one for you, should be easy to implement. Frank

Why does it take so long time to implement ISO time formats? Now the default document format for OpenOffice.org will be the open standard OpenDocument which is a major competitive advantance. Open standards is the best battlefield for open source products because they can be fully supported so why not support the open standard for time formats as part of the default formats in every locale. This way you can more easily exchange date and time information even though you don't use the same langugage. Every time I write down a date I use the ISO format - this is the only way the world can be united.
This is also an issue in Impress, for the slide format the date field.
ISO format is available in Spreadsheets cells in OOo3.0. Please check the issue with the newest OOo version. I'm going to close this issue as resolved. The missing ISO format in impress is already tracked in issue 25424.
ISO date formats are available since ages. I think what the request is about are _predefined_ ISO formats for date _including_ time. A user can always define them though.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
