Description barnett 2004-03-12 21:04:01 UTC
One thing the presentation component of OpenOffice.org does MUCH BETTER than
PowerPoint is handle very large data files containing many (perhaps several
hundred) photographs. However, it doesn't handle these very large files as
well as I would like. Since the data file is quite large, over a gigabyte in
some cases, a very long time is needed to open or save the file.

If there was an option to treat the data file like a database where changes
are written immediately as they are made, there would be no need for the save
command. This also means that when presenting the presentation there would be
no need for the lengthy open step, but rather the program could read the
components from the data file as they are needed for each slide.
