Description jan_za 2004-04-06 16:12:01 UTC
Hi

I created a MSWord doc with Office 2003 under Windows XP. I then opened it
with OOo 1.1 under both Linux (Mandrake 10 Community) and XP and found the
following problems:

+ "Normal" fields like "Title" and "Author" and author work. No problem.
+ Field properties like DocProperty->Author show up as the title. So do custom
fields (DocProperty->"anything").
+ Field properties like Info->Title and Info->Author show up blank.

I see that OOo has custom fields, however these are not supported by Word.
Also, OOo hard codes things like the Author field when saving for Word.

I'm not sure whether this classifies as a defect. I don't expect a drop in
replacement for MSWord (e.g. Create in word, continue editing in OOo, and
finally print in word with no problems). But at least one should be able to
open and display a Word doc correctly.

Regards
Jan
PS. Sample file should follow shortly...

My apologies, after some more searching, I found that this issue is also
reported in http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=25915

I don't know why I couldn't find it first time around, perhaps wrong keywords.

However, I agree with trimble, custom document properties should be
supported...
