Description lsuarezpotts 2004-04-14 21:04:12 UTC
Update the pages and change process elsewhere to:

1. register w/ ooo and with distribution project
2. file an issue and assign to losselli (Riccardo Losselli), cc'ing louis, and st (Stefan Taxhet)
3. subscribe to dev@distribution and send a note that list indicating issue number and introducing
yourself to the list.

This issue belong to component distro :-)

I'm not convinced that we should put the burden of registration and familiarize
with IZ on mirror administrators.
All unanswered messages are open issues!
At least should we raise this to the list.

Greetings
Stefan

I have the same reservations as you, Stefan, but think that the mirrors can also, uhm, benefit by
becoming more directly members of OOo. At the moment, they do invaluable service but some (don't
know how many) are not members of OOo.

I'll ask the list. The reason for this proposed change is to make it easier for the page maintainers to be
notified of new mirrors.

BTW: we can create a web page for IZ tickets for new mirrors that make it fairly easy....

Ricky, is this issue still relevant?

I'd say it can be closed, but an announcement should be made in
dev@distribution.openoffice.org to ask people to start using the mirrors
managment tool if you agree.

let's make the announcement. If people like it--I'm sure they will--then we can update the mirrors
homepage accordingly.

next step: load balancing ;)
cheers
