Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2822
Open Office Components as OLE Ojects
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:08:05 UTC
I use Keynote, an Open Source "tabbed notebook treeview/RTF notes" application written in Delphi?, and I find it vexing when I insert objects that I have to use Microsoft components and not Open Office. For example, until Keynote implements its own table / spreadsheet engine, when I need a table, I have to insert either an Excel or Word object rather than a Open Office Calc or Writer object.
I don't see that this is an API definion issue, though it might be an implementation issue which should be directed to the appropriate projects.
All I am really saying is that when being installed, Open Office components should be registered as OLE objects.
This is planned for an OO.o 2.0/3.0.
The definition of the API and most of the implementation will be done in the framework team, so I'll take it for now.
We decided to start with minimum server functionality even in OOo1.1. Here we want to implement OLE1, OLE2 (InPlaceEditing) will follow in OOo2.0.
