Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28334
Error when exporting to SWF
Last modified: 2004-05-29 22:09:35 UTC
Something is causing the "Export to SWF" feature to generate an error on exporting certain files. I know that this is file-specific (something within the file I'm attempting to export is causing this), because I can export other files to SWF's without error.
Hello there -- thanks for the report. Could you attach an example of a presentation that exhibits this problem, please? Just use the "create a new attachment" link above, and follow the instructions from there (alternatively an example to sjb90@openoffice.org and I'll attach it for you). Also changing subcomponent to "ui" as "code" is reserved for issues where we are able to point the developers towards a specific line of code. Thanks! Stuart.
Created attachment 14755 [details] This file causes an error upon exporting to SWF with OOO Impress
Sorry about the mistake with the sub-component. I've attached the file that causes the error. If you export to SWF, the progress bar will move about 1/4 of the way to the end, stop for a few seconds, and then the error-report dialogue appears.
Hmmm -- I can't reproduce this issue -- the file you attached converts to SWF without any problems for me. Have you seen this problem on any other computers running OpenOffice.org? And similarly, have you managed to export the file successfully on any other computers? It might also be worth reinstalling OpenOffice.org and seeing whether the error persists. If you could try some of these things and post a comment back, that would be great -- in the meantime it may be that someone else will tell us whether they are able to reproduce the problem. Thanks! Stuart.
I don't have another system with OOO 1.1.1. What operating system did you try it on? I'm using Windows 98SE.
Good point -- I'm using WinXP. I will try this on my work computer, running Win2K as well -- but in the meantime it might be worth rerunning the setup file for OpenOffice.org, in case this fixes the problem.
works fine here with 1.1.1 linux build
Sorry, but I have no problems exporting the file to swf-format on a 98 SE machine. As long as this cannot be reproduced on another machine or Operating System I think we can do nothing about it.
Maybe it has something to do with a particular setting? For example, I have OpenGL switched off, because it has caused other problems for me in the past.
No, sorry. No setting that can be made should have an error as result. Open GL is an acceleration for drawing objects on the screen. It has nothing to do with export to swf. By the way: can you give some details about your system (CPU, RAM, is there enough diskspace left)? Thanks!
could not reproduce with 1.1.2RC on Win98 SE
Just as an extra datapoint, I'm able to export to SWF under Win2K, using 1.1.1. It looks like this is a difficulty with your system only, I'm afraid! You might find it useful to subscribe to the general user support mailing list (see http://support.openoffice.org/) to ask for help there, if you haven't already. Leaving this issue open for the time being -- have you tried reinstalling OpenOffice.org? And if you're able to jot down the info that wg has asked for that would be much appreciated. Stuart.
My system's specs: - AMD Duron 950 - 512 MB SD133 RAM (64 MB Shared to SiS 630/730 Video Card) - 10 GB 5400 Hard Drive There's lots of disk space left. As for reinstalling, I'll be making a system backup in about a week (I want to leave my system clean of changes where possible). Can you leave this thread open until I can try reinstalling?
Thanks for the extra info! Just so that this issue doesn't continue appearing on our searches, I'm going to resolve it as "worksforme", which is the status that we use when no one can replicate the problem. The issue will remain open, and you can continue to add comments, but that way there's no hurry to post back here -- just take your time! I'm sure we'll all be interested to hear how things go though -- good luck with the reinstallation!
Thanks! I'll let everyone here know what happens when I attempt a fix.
I'm going to close this issue for the time being, as it's now been dormant for a while. Do feel free to reopen the issue though, eppb, if you find that the problem is reproducible even after your reinstallation -- you can also add a comment to let us know if you find that it works. Stuart.
