Description timon.schroeter 2002-01-15 10:35:11 UTC
On discuss_de we have around 400 posts per month. Most of these are on topics
related with the project, not the software. We would like to support new
OpenOffice.org USERS who do not speak english better than we can right now. We
could do so with the help of an additional mailing list, which could be called
users_de@lang.openoffice.org . We would like to offer the users to either look
for answers in the web-archive or subscribe themselves to receive answers as
fast as possible. We do have a person willing to moderate this list and a
total of three guys, who are experienced useres, willing to answer questions
on this list. Can we do it this way?

Regards,

Timon

timon, do you still want this?
if so, we can perhaps configure a de list to address this. otherwise, I'm rather
reluctant to authorize it.

Yes, please.

what do you mean by "de list"?

by "de" list I meant de-discuss. Isn't this the function of de-discuss, to provide
information on Ooo for users?
I am anxious about creating too many lists that don't seemingly add to the overall
list. In short, I don't want to have the German developers not communicating in the
official discuss and users list because they already have in the de lists. that is my
concern.

Hi Louis,

as discussed with Stefan and Jost, I discussed these issues with
those, who volunteered to help users via the future users_de list.
They agree with me that it is feasible to:
1. translate or summarize important posts/threads for discuss@Oo or
the projects' lists.
2. Inform users on our lists about important threads on other lists.

The idea is to make sure that
ideas/opinions/discoveries/questions/solutions/whatever that pop up
on germanophone list are not supposed to be inaccessible for the
rest of the community because of the language barrier. So when
something importend crosses our way, we lift it across that barrier.
AND we aim at interesting developers in participating in the various
projects at OOo by informing people on _de lists about interesting
things going on on other lists.

Regards,

Timon

created the list.
timon or jost, I need a german description of the list. I will add it to the list as soon
as you send it to me.

Hi,

That was fast :-) here's the description:

Benutzer können hier Hilfe bei der Bedienung von OpenOffice.org
finden.

You can make Manfred Reiter <reiterm@yifan.net> moderator of this
list. In case he wants to have these mails sent to another address
later, can Jost change this adress? BTW: I can't access
http://lang.openoffice.org/servlets/MailingListEdit?list=discuss_de

I get: "Your account does not have the necessary permissions to..."

Is that supposed to be this way?

Regards,

Timon

As agreed with Louis, we can close all the resolved fixed issues he owns.
