Description rongage 2004-04-29 20:19:51 UTC
Applying a border to non-bordered table within the word processor causes the
cell's size to change. If the cells are joined before you apply the border, the
size does not change. Applying a border should not change the cell size ever.

MRU->BH: this would mean a change of designed behaviour. What happens is, that
the applied border also recieves a default spacing to the cells content of 0,1
cm, which makes the tble seem to grow.
Workaround: In Format.Table.Border set the "spacing to content" to 0,00 cm.

I just wanted to comment on this again, since it's been a long time since I
originally reported a duplicate (19863) and nothing has changed as of OOo 3.0
Beta 2.

It seems that this should be marked as a defect, not an an enhancement, as it's
not documented as far as I can tell, and is unintuitive (applying a border
should not also apply a change of spacing--they're two separate formatting
elements).

In the very least, it would be good to have an option to change this behavior
somewhere, by linking it to a style or format, or otherwise creating a menu
option to control the behavior.

I realize there is a workaround using the "spacing to content", but it's
extremely inconvenient.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
