Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28553
Some feed back on including the Subject=[moderated] that should be considered.
Last modified: 2013-02-08 20:12:45 UTC
Hi, I noticed from the following web page that some Subject fields for links contain the text "[moderated]". http://www.openoffice.org/contact.html Whilst this initially looks like a good idea, it has two side effects that need to be considered. Because there is default text in the subject, the user is no longer prompted for a subject. The email packages I know would prompt the user if they were to leave the subject blank. I checked around 900 posts using a News Reader and found 47 (including 15 posts and replies) had no meaningful subject as a result (just [moderated] or Re:[Moderated] etc), or around 5%. It also breaks some News Reader software, which in all fairness is the fault of the software in question. Normally having the user enter their subject has meant I have never seen this bug/feature in many years of usage. IMHO this should be reconsidered. I hope this feedback is of use. Regards Kelvin
