Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28685
mail system unusably slow
Last modified: 2004-08-02 22:37:53 UTC
Mail systems are very very slow on OOo. It is possible that it is the new worm affecting Windows machines. Can you ask ops to take the necessary steps to accelerate mail, at least until the worm has turned? thanks Louis
Checking on the snail in mailing system It would be convienient if you could give a working example of mailing system being slow, just in case am not able to identify the decrease in speed for some of my test projects Thanks Mohan
BTW - it was unbelievably slow yesterday, but now, I sent mail to releases and it was back to me almost instantly.
Even tested out in a project & the mail was real quick.
Mohan let's keep this open a little to see if the problem recurs tomorrow US time. I suspect it was due to sasser and if it is episodic like that, it may be tolerable. If not, or if it turns out to be chronic, then perhaps we can see what to do. thanks Louis
Louis, If it cannot be re-created & the end user cannot re-create then I suggest we close this issue & re-open once it can be produced. Eric
its certainly unbelievably slow today and has degraded from 1 hour turnaroud to over two hours

Eric: can you look into site load NOW and see if there is something that can be done NOW to accelerate mail delivery? Thanks! Louis
I tried subscribing to the collabtest mailing list & it has been over 30 minutes & still no verify subscribe email. I am opening an internal pcn to address this. Eric
I created pcn28526 to have this issue addressed. Eric
thanks, eric! louis
So far the feedback I have received is that there are a couple of new viruses causing a lot of spam here. The system is very busy & operating normally. This should only be temporary as the virus spams clear out. Eric
I would think that this has cleared up now, please re-open if this is not the case. Thanks, Eric
Closing this issue.
