Description aussiebob 2004-05-11 11:55:50 UTC
Make an issue tracker or feature request wizard available within the OO interface.
The wizard should be context-sensitive (maybe part of the help system) and be a
single keyboard shortcut or mouse click away so when a user is working, and OO
doesn't do what they want or behaves differently from expectations, they can
activate the wizard which will step through filing an issue report.
The wizard could then either store the request/issue locally and prompt the user
to post (for offline work) or offer to send the request immediately.

I think it is UI or framework.

Utomo > aussiebob :
I suggest you discuss about this in discuss list and get somebody else think
about this idea.

SBA: I think that this "dream" is way too expensive. If we would enable EVERY
user to AUTOMATICALLY report EVERY hurdle he EVER gets in, then... WHO should
read and adress this?

As a matter of fact, there are always enough people on this planet who never
take the time to read things like - (bäääh!) - Manuals or FAQs.

And then they are vmore likely than others t run into something they consider
"Being not intuitive" for them in this very situation. And this shall generate a
report that SOMEONE (a real, living and breathing person) shall read and
process. Well, How should the "Back channel" work? - Who will publicly tell
about his inability to read the F*Untastic manual by asking "a "dumb" question"
AND give away the email or telephone no along with that? - This can not work.

There is a huge amount of ways to get assistance when things are "not intuitive"
for someone. A user in trouble needs instand help. And the fact that a problem
"Was reported automatically" does not help to solve THIS problem NOW. It just
creates a huge amount of work for people whao do not know if the submitter got a
solution in the meantime or not.

We have the Issuezilla bugtracker where defects can read "Babla is not intuitive
and the help sescription does not help". This is a good thing and a hurdle high
enough to filter those who would "generate useless reports" because of their
temporary mood or something.

Even the amount of issues already written in this tracker is way too high to
have them all processed at all. Taking all existing, open issues together would
"entertain" the developers for the next 10 years to come without a problem.
Well, IF NO FURTHER issue gets ever written....

=> There is no need for a tool that generates a high amount of low level problem
descriptions.

Set to "Wontfix"
