Description Unknown 2002-01-22 17:52:45 UTC
I am unable to print to printers other than "Generic Printer". I installed 641
on Mandrake 8.1 and I use KDE. I use KUPS 1.1 and am able to print from every
other
application I have used (Netscape, K-Mail, J-Pilot, KWord, KLyx, etc). The
print dialogue box allows me to select printers, but never seems to release the
job to the queue. A query of the various queues shows the printers ready, but
the queues empty.

Hi Daniel,
Please print to file and attach the output to this bug.

Turns out that I had to run sadmin and manually enter the path to lp.
Shouldn't the software be importing my path variable?
Comment 6 christof.pintaske 2002-02-21 15:28:15 UTC
whatever command line is specified is executed with popen(), which in
turn starts a shell (usually /bin/sh, see "man popen" for details).
Your path/PATH settings are evaluated by this shell. Please make sure
that you do not (re-)set the path in your ".login" / ".bashrc" files
as these files get parsed when starting a shell.
