Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2944
Find & Replace within selected text/cells
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:47 UTC
It would make more sense if one or more cells were already selected at the time a user opens the find & replace dialog (Edit -> Find & Replace), the "Current Selection Only" option would be already turned on. This would be a good enhancement in the direction of user-friendliness in my opinion.
Hi Falko, this one's for you. Regards, Peter
I concur. Accepted
When having text selected (in any app) than the "Find & Replace" dialogue should automatically switch on the "In slelection only" field. This should apply to single as well as to multiple selection.
I consider this as a good idea too, but for the Q there is no chance to change it, because it is no keyfeature for the Q and it would affect also all apps. It is considered for 'Office later'.
I agree, but there is one more thing about cases like this: When items hidded by button "More Option"/"Less Options" come selected, they should appear (not hidded) when the window "Find & Replace" opens. Some times, the user doesn't remember, or doesn't know (one machine for more than one user) that those items are selected, and it's search/replace becomes affected or wrong!
This issue is now partially fixed in Writer (selection only is marked when something is selected), so why not to do the same in Calc? And sure, as the most important of options, this options should be visible in unexpanded view of S&R dialog.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
