Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29521
messages about that printing stuff is missing
Last modified: 2004-05-27 22:01:25 UTC
Maybe, it is not much typical but the user really need not have a printer and he should not be bothered by warnings about it each time he starts OOo. I think that it is enough to print error messages if he tries to print and he does not have the printer tools tools installed. Actually, OOo prints the following messages on start up if the printing stuff is not installed: sh: line 1: /usr/sbin/lpc: No such file or directory sh: line 1: lpc: command not found sh: line 1: lpstat: command not found In addition it prints the following message if the user tries to print with the Generic Printer: sh: line 1: lpr: command not found I will attach a patch which removes the messages on start up. In fact, it would be better to do show an error dialog if the user tries to print and the printing stuff is not available. The messages printed to stderr are not visible if OOo is started from a menu or an icon on a desktop.
