Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 30822
Can't Open Files in OpenOffice.org's Native File Format
Last modified: 2004-07-05 10:43:41 UTC
I created a text file to hold a list of (proper) names. This list contained perhaps 10 or 12 names. I saved the file in OpenOffice.org's native XML format. Since the original save, everytime I have tried to open the file, OpenOffice has CRASHED. I deleted the file and then recreated it... twice. I am UNABLE to open this file. I then changed the filename's extension from "sxw" to "doc" and tried to open the file: It worked! For some reason, OpenOffice CANNOT access its own native file formats!!!
Can you please describe the step you used to create the list so we can try to reprocude and confirm the issue? It sounds like you're saying you just can't open ANY sxw files in OOo? This is basic functionality and if it didn't work someone else would have noticed by now. Perhaps you need to reinstall OOo. Try attaching the sxw file by selecting "Create a new attachment" above.

I have reinstalled the software. The problem has been resolved. Thank you.
Thought so. Enjoy OpenOffice.org. ;)
