Description shmuelh 2004-07-12 16:37:36 UTC
The attached file was written in WordPerfect 11 and exported to MS Word (I have
MS Word 2002). It opened without any problem in MS Word. When I tried to import
the Word file, it was rather chaotic.

For some reason, the setting had been switched from Portrait to Landscape, even
though on the screen it looked like it was in Portrait mode. When I printed it,
it printed in Landscape mode, but with the Portrait width (all at the left
margin), and a few inches free on the right margin.

When I changed the setting to Portrait, it looked on the computer like it was in
Landscape mode, but it printed in Portrait mode with the Landscape margins. In
other words, it printed all the way across, but dropped a few inches of text on
the right margin. In other words, let's say the last 2 or 3 inches of each line
simply were not there, as the paper was not wide enough. Its length was that of
Landscape length; i.e., it left blank about 1/3 of the bottom of the page.

MRU->MM: This seems only to happen, if the Ms Word format is created by third
party products like WP. When saving this natively in WW, it is no problem to
handle it in Writer. When time offers, please have a look, if it's possible to
import such files correctly.
