Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 32894
ability to number parts of a document separately
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:14 UTC
there should ba some way to number parts of adocument separately. on users list nobody could provide a solution, so i assume there is no easy and standard way to do this. what to achieve : assume a document that contains, for example, an agreement with appendixes. they all must be kept in a single document. appendixes should be numbered separately - both page number and page count. one way to do this could be new fields - "page number in this style - separate" (inserts page number in the current style, restarts page numbering whenever this style restarts in a document); "page number in this style - continuous" (inserts page number in the current style, keeps numbering whenever this style reappears) ; "page count in this style - separate" (inserts page count of current style, only current section); "page count in this style - continuous" (inserts page count of current style, counts all pages in a document with this style). additionally there should be an option in style propertis that would allow to exclude pages formatted in that style from total page count. of course, this probably would also complicate statistics section...
In OO2.0 it will be possible to use the "Restart numbering" feature (in Format.Paragraph.Numbering)also for Heading paragraphs. Check out with OO 680m49. Is this what you are looking for?
hmm. actually, it seems that this is also available in 1.1.2 (at least there is a checkbox like that) and it affects only paragraph numbering. i checked m47 (is there any difference to this aspect with 49 ?) and unfortunately no, that is a different thing - what i want is an ability to insert page number/count that would be separate for some part of the document (for example, a style) should i reopen this issue ?
A different page number count can be reached also via format.Paragraph. On the "Text flow" tab, there' s "page break" before. Use it together with option "With page style" and enter desired page number.
yes... but this influences only page number (as far as i can tell these options mimic the ones on page break dialog), not page count - i have found no way to set page count for some part of a document only, so i believe this issue should be reopened
Ah, page count should also be seperately. This was the thing I missed out when reading issue description.
Reassigned to BH. Not only seperate page numbering, also differently seperated page count in one document is desired.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
