Description Unknown 2002-03-01 17:41:07 UTC
With win32 and linux builds 641C of OpenOffice redlining gets re-enabled
after accepting/rejecting changes if previously disabled.What I wanted is
the ability to only have changebars enabled.

I go to Tools->options->Text Document->Changes
and set Insertions, Deletions, Changed attributes as [None] for both
Attributes and Color.
Lines changed "Mark" is Left margin and "Color" is Black.
I then turn on Edit->Changes->Record.

I get the change bars and it works the way I wanted it to (no redlining).

Then I Edit->Changes->"Accept or Reject" and accept all changes.

After this point I get the changebars when I change text but I also get
the redline deletion changes (deleted characters show up in black text)
making it really confusing as to what the real text is.

ES->walkersa: This behaviour is in keeping with the feture's design:
setting all *attributes* (colrs and font typfaces) to "none" does not
mean you won't see the deleted texts. You just set parameters which
are apparently *turning off* the changes display but in fact, just
make them similar to the text you type.
What you need is an option to show ON/OFF "Text display" and "Lines
changed" *separatly*, and this is an RFE...

ES->FT: It is really uncomfortable to work on or read a document when
you see the "text display" changes. But you may need to see if a line
contains changes (whatever they are).
RFE-> Changes -> Show : distinguish between "Text display" and "Lines
changed". Proposal: 2 check boxes in the options.

We need to add comment option to Track Changes.
this allows the user to create remarks that are normally done within
the text and will distract the user from reading flow.
Note: it is also needed for MS word filters
