Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 3353
Page title should contain issue number and summary
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:59:21 UTC
Currently, when viewing an issue in IZ, the page title is "www.openoffice.org". A more informative title would be "Issue 42 - Cannot foo bars when frobbed", i.e. the issue number and summary.
Hi, sorry, but yes it is a pain. We are considering enhancing the site so that titles would be visible (incl. in IZ) but haven't yet. Not known when. best Louis
With apologies to Yoda: Good intentions does not a bug FIXED make. As this bug has not been fixed, I'm reopening.
this is not to be implemented in the forseeable future. Note: this is an infrastructure request; CollabNet provides the infrastructure. the issue already exists in CollabNet internal issue tracking and will be implemented in future builds, just not near ones. am closing with wontfix. Louis
Thanks for the clarification, that's much better.

Other issues in this area were marked as resolved later. Louis, I would like to reopen and reassign to support. Any comments? May I suggest, that we keep this one specific for IZ pages titles and #5404 for general pages.
This is actually a serious issue. It affects Web site accessibility and usability. In addition, the titles given in a search engine will all be OpenOffice.org so unless your search engine gives excerpts from a page, it will be like trying to find a needle in a hey stack. I see no problem have OpenOffice.org - Page Title, but OpenOffice.org by itself tells nothing about the contents of a page.
ST: I agree these should be reopened and evaluated against the upgrade. Assigning to support. louis
Just to clarify the request, do you mean this: "Project Issue Tracking: openoffice.org" under the blue bar at the top of each individual issue page? I was just looking at our most current release and one line under the site name there is the issue number but no summary. Does the issue number need to be on the same line? I'll submit a request to have the summary added after confirming the location. Thanks, Kristen
Response from Johan: "To answer your question, no, I mean the title of the web page, which can be found in the title bar of the browser window. I.e. the HTML element marked with the [title] tag. Mine is "OpenOffice.org - Mozilla 1.0.0". Cheers //Johan" Thanks Johan- I see what you mean. On most of our sites there is an issue number in the title. I'll check woth Engineering to see why this is not the case on OO. Thanks, Kristen

Looks like this is fixed. Assigning to stefan to confirm and close.
Please avoid the additional step of reassigning before resolving the issue as resolved/fixed. Feel free to change the status yourself.
This issue intially suggested to add a title like "Issue 42 - Cannot foo bars when frobbed", i.e. the issue number and summary. With SC26 we have titles like "Issue 42", i.e. the issue number. Why has the summary not been added?
The Issue you raised has been marked as 'Resolved' and not updated within the last 1 year+. I am therefore setting this issue to 'Verified' as the first step towards Closing it. If you feel this is incorrect, please re-open the issue and add any comments. As per previous posting: Verified -> Closed. A Closed Issue is a Happy Issue (TM). Regards, Andrew
