I new to use of StarBasic and am Seeking examples of use of the following two
methods:

1. SetColumnWidth
2. DataFilterAutoFilter

These would be used with Star Calc.

I know these functions exist because the macro recorder develops them, but
comments them out and 

does not appear to understand what variables to feed them as arguments.

I have searched the entire http://api.openoffice.org/ site, as well as the
- StarOffice 6.0 Office Suite Basic Programmers Guide,
- Useful Macro Information for OpenOffice by Anderew Pitonyak
- the OpenOffice.org 1.1 Developer's Guide

And a few other places beside.  One very important weakness of the overall
documentation is that 

fact that operational macro language examples are often missing or obscure. 
Thus, as I would
like to complete and demonstrate my project for the client, without
documentation and examples
of these two remaining functions I am at a loss.

Yes, documentation is always to improve. Please contact the mailing lists to get
help. I will improve the documentation perhaps in the next version, it is to
late for OOo 2.0.
