Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 35033
Tell people of new OOo builds (i.e. with AutoUpdate feature)
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:33:33 UTC
With bi-weekly builds, some people may struggle with keeping their test builds up to date or are not very inclined to check for updates unless something tells them to update. This is where I think the feature would come in.
SBA: You are right in general -> Confirmed. But I see no point in investing developers time in such an automatism "only for the OOo QA people". Whenever someone submits an issue, the QA folks at SUN (we) will verify the issues in the latest build. If this attempt fails (to reproduce), we look in the mentioned older version. If this fails, we ask the submitter to verify the findings in a younger build or give further details. Of course, a report based on the latest build is always better. The current developer snapshots are visible on http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html only, thus requiring the people to actively have a look. SBA->MH: I think that the availability of a new OOo developer snapshot should be mailed to a certain alias so that all OOo QA folks can subscribe and thus are aware of new builds in time. In these days, "ASAP reports" on new builds are precious....and it should not be too much a hazzle to set up such mails :-) Reassigned to MH.
email about snapshots are posted on releases@openoffice.org and announced on QA page. I think the idea is to implement an auto update feature within OOo, reassigning to bh.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
