Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 35050
application should be choosable which opens a document
Last modified: 2014-02-23 15:25:16 UTC
Two examples: When opening a file from e.g. OOCalc, (i.e., a file with comma separated values), it is opened in OOWriter instead if the file extention is not .csv but .ascii or .data. On the other hand, it is impossible (as far as I know) to force OOWriter to open a .csv file -- it opens in OOCalc instead. This behaviour is undesirable in many cases: - For example, I would like to import a data file which has the extention .ascii into OOCalc without renaming it (because it is generated by another application) - I also might want to open a .csv file in OOwriter (e.g., to check the content, or do some search-and-replace) - especially under Linux, file names do not necessarily contain "extentions". This especially applies to raw data which generated by other apps. A possible fix would be to offer the choice to select the application which opens a file.
TM->BH: Not a defect, but a wish for an enhancement.
