Description sherter 2004-10-20 14:32:50 UTC
If you have a document in Microsoft Word XP with a footer and put a continuous
section on line 1 and save to RTF, on import into OpenOffice Writer, it loses
the footer. The .doc will import correctly. I have tracked it down to the
\sectd code. If I manually remove the \sectd and all of the codes up to the
first space, it imports fine. The \sectd is a reset section properties. I
noticed that on RTF documents the first thing it usualy has is a \pard which
is a reset paragraph properties, but if the first thing in the docuemnt is a
section break, it ends up before the \pard which then resets the header and
footer information.

If the section break is anywhere but the first character/line of the document,
it works fine in the RTF import. I have created a zip file with four
documents, two .doc and two RTF. One set has a section break as the first
thing in the document and the other set has the section break on line 2.

The issue was originally produced on 1.1.0 and I verified that it is also in
1.1.3. I have only tested on Windows XP and Word XP.

MRU->MMaher: this might be related to internal task 117882 (page style after
page braek), but is about section breaks, not page breaks.

With OOO300 in Vista-system both rtf files display text "This is the footer" at
bottom of page.
