Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 36393
incorrect default cell format setting
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
An integer entered into a cell defaults the cell to 'Number/General' The format cell window shows this as having 0 decimal places but in fact it is assuming 2 decimal places. To change to actually having 0 decimal places the decimal places field must be increased then set back to 0. To test enter two integers into cells then divide one into the other. The result cell shows 2 decimal places but the format cells window shows as 0. Minor problem but annoying when trying to make the spreadsheet look neat for printing.
Hi Bettina, personally I would like to close this Issue as wontfix because our Standard numberformat just uses the appropriate decimal places entered. So integers are shown without decimals and results of a calculation resulting in numbers smaller than zero are displayed with an accurate number of decimals. The user can explicitly set the format to integer. So it's up to you to decide about this. Frank
That's interesting. I've noticed the amount of decimal places used in a standard formatted cell is always 2, when a value with more decimal places than 2 is entered. The effect is present in OO 2.2.0 Entering 1.2345 in a cell with the standard format. The cell displays: 1.23
