Description lsuarezpotts 2004-11-16 22:16:16 UTC
There has been recent discussion to enable RSS on OpenOffice.org. Lars Noodén has been
spearheading it on OOo, but outside of OOo, there has also been interest.

Andreas, Lars is probably the best contact in OOo at the moment to work with CollabNet on enabling
this.

thanks
Louis

Lars,

Unfortunately this RSS enhancement will be quite specific to java.net as they
are funding that development effort directly. Here is what this version of the
enhancement will cover:

1. All discussion forums will be available in RSS 1.0 format. No threads will be
represented in the RSS and the feed will publish the following fields: <title>
<link>, <description>, <dc:date>, <dc:creator>

2. A new domain-level servlet will be created to return a list of active
discussion forums (based on input parameters activityInterval and pageSize) in
XML format. This servlet will only return the discussion forums to which the
user (making the URL request) has access to according to the CEE roles and
permissions.

We would like to expand the scope of the RSS requirement in the future, but the
funds available for this quarter limit us to only consider the above scope.

Which additional CN content areas have you considered having beeing made
available in RSS format?

Andreas

lars,
while we wait for RSS, do this: Go to Gmane (www.gmane.org) create the newsgroup mapping to the
OOo list, and then you are free to use RSS for that list. Gmane allows for RSS, news (nttp), and other
useful tools.

Thus, you can use RSS for discuss, users, and *any other list you choose* --and it's available now.

NOTE: I have not tested this. Be my guest.

Cheers
Louis

I think that 3.5.1 has RSS. Let's check.

I think RSS feeds for mailing lists provided at the OOo site would be helpful.
This would help with many of the other requests like RSS for IZ acitivity, CVS
activity, ...

Currently the RSS capabilities have been incorporated in our announcements tool
in Danube (3.5.x). To use it you would use a link like e.g

    http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectNewsRSS

to your RSS reader and get the news items from that project. Also, on Danube
systems and later, the help file can be found at this address

    https://openoffice.orf/scdocs/ProjectNews#RSS

The feedback from stefan with respect to extending this capabilities to other
components is captured in PCN 47222.

Comment 8 Unknown 2007-04-18 12:29:08 UTC
In the future release we have incorporated the RSS framework to be present for
the entire Collabnet Community Edition .

Hence moving this issue into the Resolved Later queue .

Hi

This feature is fixed in Rubicon and I have verified the same on a test box
carrying the latest version. I shall close this case for now. Please feel free
to re-open, if the functionality does not satisfy your expectation when site
gets upgraded to Rubicon version of CEE.

Regards,
Vathsan
Support Operations.

Marking the issue as Resolved LATER.
Comment 13 lars.nooden 2008-06-04 12:52:42 UTC
Approximately (Q3, Q4, 2009 Q1) when are the changes likely to percolate up to
the OOo site?
Comment 14 Unknown 2009-01-23 10:07:57 UTC
CollabNet Support is currently reviewing the issues under Resolved-Later. If the
issues are fixed currently in any of the present CEE releases, then it will be
marked as Resolved-Fixed.

There might be a few issues which might not be in our future roadmap which might
be closed as Wontfix unless it does not lie under any custom request.
Comment 15 Unknown 2009-01-23 10:09:15 UTC
It should most probably be available in Q3 of 2009.

Marking this as fixed as it is available in Rubicon
