Description glebovitz 2002-04-02 02:11:51 UTC
After net install, address book autopilot crashes soffice.

Starting openoffice automatically starts address book. Selecting other db or LDAP
will abort autopilot and exit soffice. Selecting Mozilla/Netscape 6.x then prompts
for collected or addresses. Selecting either aborts soffice and the autopilot.

Hi Marc,
I can't reproduce this. Do you have any idea?

Hi Gregg,

No idea so far. I have some questions:
- Can you open the datasource admin dialog under TOOLS / DATASOURCES
- Can you open the datasource beamer ( VIEW / DATASOURCES )
- If yes can you open the datasource Bibliography.

Bye Marc

Marc,

I finally got it to install by running swriter instead of openoffice
after the installation. Here is my configuration:

Stock RedHat 7.2 with NO updates. Fresh install with Netscape 6.2
added. My home directory was restored to give me my netscape address
book etc.

I did an openoffice 641D network install using the command:

setup -net

from the normal directory (gunziped install file from openoffice).I
installed Openoffice in /usr/local/openoffice. Next I ran a
workstation install using the command:

/usr/local/openoffice/setup

I selected the workstation option and installed it in my home
directory: /home/gregg/openoffice.

I filed in the personal information form and the the install finished
without any problems.

Finally, I ran /home/gregg/openoffice/soffice and got into the
autopilot. I selected mozilla/netscape 6.x and I was prompted for the
source. I then selected Personal Address Book and hit next. At this
point openoffice aborted.

Any time I ran soffice from my home directory or the
/usr/local/openoffice/program directory the install would abort.

I also noticed that when I ran soffice, a document window would appear
prior to the appearance of the autopilot window. After the autopilot
window appeared, the document window would disappear (i.e. close).

When I ran /usr/local/openoffice/program/swriter. The document window
would appear, and would stay open even after the autopilot window
would appear. In this senario the autopilot would complete without a
hitch.

Once the autopilot completes, I can run soffice without a problem.

If you can't reproduce this in your lab, I would be happy to give you
access to my system for testing.

Gregg

Hi gregg,

I have followed you step by step instruction, but I can't reproduce
your issue.
Is this also happend when you make a normal install ( without -net )
or only when you make a networkinstallation.

What happend happend when you cancel the autopilot.
Under Tools/Datasource you can create a new Mozilla Addressbook, too.
What happend there,

Hope that help to resolve you problem.

Bye Marc

Marc,

Update: This problem only appears on my k6-2 based systems. I will
experiment around some more.

I upgraded to Redhat 7.3 and OpenOffice still crashes in the autopilot
to import address list. Hitting the cancel key causes an unexpected
exception.

BTW: I didnt do a redhat 7.3 upgrade, I actually installed 7.3 on
newly generated partitions.

Hi,

does this problem still appear in a OOo 1.0.1?
