Description helge.delfs 2004-12-07 13:00:21 UTC
Copy some text in Writer and paste it as 'Formatted text' crashes office
Comment 1 openoffice 2004-12-07 16:42:37 UTC
dvo: Apparently a typo in sw/source/filter/basflt/fltini.cxx, which
unfortunately compiled OK. Fixed.

SBA: Just to ease the future of queries, I adjusted the summary to be a little
more "catchy" (a Summary string query with "Paste special" or "RTF" had no outcome).

just for illumination, i always search on the comments, not the subject, and RTF
is not in the comments anywhere. so maybe that is why there a so many
duplicates? anyway i will refine my search practices ;)

Comment 31 ronk 2006-08-23 00:17:15 UTC
I see that this issue is marked as FIXED, but I am using 2.0.3 on Windows and
this is still a problem. It has been a problem since at least 1.1.
Just trying to open a plain text document or copying from another application
using rich text will cause OO to go completely unresponsive or crash.
The thought has occurred to me that this may be a non-focused dialog problem.
In many of these cases, there SHOULD be a dialog come up asking me how to import
the specified file. I never see it. Instead, I get an unresponsive app. If I
am copying and pasting, I can choose PASTE SPECIAL, I can then select AS
UNFORMATTED and get the text okay. If I just PASTE, OO locks up.
Is the text import dialog perhaps being generated, but not being forced to the
foreground? Is OO waiting for me to respond to a modal dialog that I never see?
Just a thought.
I don't have the tools or know-how to investigate this.
Does this make sense to anyone else?
For some time, my workaround has been to import into MS Word or Excel, save as a
Word document, then load that into OpenOffice.
But come on -- that's just wrong! ;-)
I would appreciate any word of an actual fix for this problem.
Thanks.
ronk

HDE->ronk: I recommend to submit a new issue with your specific bugdoc attached.
I checked the problem here and can't detect a freeze or crash you described in 2.0.3
