Description sforbes 2004-12-23 13:00:30 UTC
in the attached file, in slide 2, there is an RTL list, where one of the items
has parentasis.

After export to PPT, and opening in PowerPoint 2003, the closing parentasis is
in correctly displayed reversed, as if it is an opening one (in RTL context)

Reassigned to Christian.
Comment 6 christian.guenther 2005-01-12 17:13:10 UTC
I can reproduce the bug.
when I load the converted (ppt) file with OOo the parentasis is correct.
please have a look.
Comment 7 sven.jacobi 2005-01-13 16:38:34 UTC
sj->fme: This is not really a ppt export problem. I come to this conclusion
after pasting the unformatted Hebrew text from Impress into Writer, this has the
same effect as exporting the document to ppt, the parenthesis is inverted. So in
other words, the title could also be called "Closing parenthesis misplaced after
pasting from Impress to Writer".
In my opinion this issue is most probably a outliner problem. After a short
discussion with ama and hbrinkm we come to the conclusion that you are having
the most experience with this kind of problem.
Comment 8 frank.meies 2005-01-14 10:13:45 UTC
FME->SJ: As discussed, for some reason the paragraphs in the attached bugdoc
have the left-to-right paragraph direction attribute set. Select all and change
their direction will give you the situation described above.
Comment 9 sven.jacobi 2005-01-14 10:29:45 UTC
Changed target, because there is not enough time to fix this for OOo2.0.
Comment 10 alan 2006-10-26 11:06:02 UTC
ayaniger->fme,sj:
In 2.0.4, when copying to writer, the text is displayed properly, but when
exporting to ppt, the problem still exists.

Adds an RLM to the ending parenthesis for RTL
Comment 12 alan 2006-10-26 18:48:00 UTC
The attached patch solves the problem, by adding an RLM after the ending
parenthesis, using the method described in i18024. Please review to make sure it
doesn't break anything else.
Comment 13 sven.jacobi 2006-10-30 18:16:06 UTC
sj->ayaniger: Many thanks for your patch, it looks good and will be integrated
into the master with cws[impress111] having the target OOo2.2.

Comment 14 sven.jacobi 2006-12-05 16:43:49 UTC
this issue is now ready to be verified in cws[impress111]
Comment 15 sven.jacobi 2006-12-05 17:10:32 UTC
sj->cgu: When loading the first attachment within an actual OOo version the
parentasis is displayed wrong, this seems to be broken when comparing the second
slide with the "oo_p.jpg" attachment. Please check if we need to write an issue
for this problem (to cl).
Comment 16 alan 2006-12-06 06:04:11 UTC
ayaniger->sj,cgu:
The locale affects the display of the line with the parentheses. When I set the
locale to English (USA), the line's text direction is LTR, and the ending
parenthesis jumps to the right, along with the bullet. When I set the locale to
Hebrew and re-open the document, the display is correct, the same as in
oo_p.jpg. Is this the problem you are referring to?
Comment 17 alan 2006-12-06 06:15:36 UTC
Clarification of my previous post: with en-US locale, bullets move to the
*left*, and the parenthesis moves to the right.
