see attached document.
enable "edit points"; select the object in point editing mode
drag any floating toolbar over the drawing area. notice performace hit (it seems 
that object is reselected repeatedly).
the same effect can be observed when switching between menus (file-edit-view-
insert etc), but it's not so obvious then.
