Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 40907
OpenOffice.org Base should be added to the module selector
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:26:47 UTC
OpenOffice.org Base should be added to the module tree (Windows and Unix) like all the other program modules of OpenOffice.org. Please ping Falko regarding the module description. I propose to use the same as already have in the Start menu.
IS -> FT: Before I include the new module, I need the module name and description. Furthermore the name of the Solaris package (RPM). Next to "staroffice-draw-8-1.i586.rpm" this would be "staroffice-base-8-1.i586.rpm".
FT: Please refer to http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/module_name_in_caption_bar/module_name_in_caption_bar.sxw for module names. The name for the RPM is fine.
grabbing and retargeting. In the current state, it's too late to implement this. We need to clearly define what should be part of the "OpenOffice.org Base" module (which is non-trivial itself), and we need to ensure that all applications respect a not-installed Base module (at the moment, they'll probably simply crash ...) so far, we know that the following should be part of a "Base module" - the help section - the File|New menu entry - the system integration - database related wizards unclear: - the filter for database documents? - the filter configuration? I.e., will "Database documents" appear in the file-open dialog? - the data source browser? - the options for "OpenOffice.org Base" in Tools|Options? - the connection pooling feature? - Mail Merge? - Exchange|Database - probably more ....
It is a logical step. Different module, different installation option.
fixed as issue 46898, at least in a basic way, which needs refinement later on *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 46898 ***
