Hi uploaded http://www.openoffice.org/index-splashscreen.html, which I shall use.  The full image, 
http://www.openoffice.org/index-splashscreen-png.html, is lovely.

but alas too big.

louis: indeed the second one is big both as file size and as dimensions.
as a guideline: what is an acceptable maximum filesize for an image to be
included on the homepage?
maybe the JPG version can be saved with less compression, is a bit blurred

it depends. With the new page, I'd ask for you to be the judge.  But we want things preferentially to stay 
under 40KB.  

I would find 40 KB acceptable for this image now--if it makes the jpg less blurred.  The size could be a 
little larger, but not too much.

Love the puzzle... not the perspectival one, which gave me vertigo.  only point is: hard to see it says 
OpenOffice.org. Is it possible to put in, in say translucent blue/black (our colors/font) OpenOffice.org?
