Description papadopo 2005-01-26 00:24:20 UTC
Hi,

I'm trying to install OpenOffice 1.1.4 on a few Windows XP SP2 PCs. The
installer crashes consistently on all these machines. What's special about these
machines is that they're running French Windows XP but users (including
administrator) have Greek or Korean names.

The administrator account I'm trying to install from is "ΔημήτÏης". Installer
crashes at startup before I don't even get a chance to see the GUI.

I worked around the problem by creating an administrator account "install". I
perform a multi-user installation using "setup -net" from that account. That works.

But then I have to go back to account "ΔημήτÏης" or another account with a
Korean name to setup OOo for these individual users. I try starting OOo but it
crashes immediatly.

I get a dialog from Windows with information about the crash. Please find
attached the releated XML report generated for this dialog.

Oh, the crashes are not specific to OOo 1.1.4. They have been there since at
least OOo 1.1.2.

I have seen that this issue is OOo 1.1.4 related and that the last entry was in January ... :(
Have you tried this with a newer version of OOo like m1.9.100 or above? Does your problem
occur there, too?

I haven't tried a more recent version yet. I'll give OOo 2 a try when it's
released, maybe I'll try installing a beta version if I have time.

On the other hand I doubt this has been fixed if it's not a known issue. It
looks like the installer is not Unicode-clean, maybe _UNICODE is not defined
when compiling it, or A functiosn are used somewhere instead of equivalent W
functions.

I can't reproduce with OOO 2.0.
Comment 7 Olaf Felka 2005-10-28 22:58:47 UTC
OK in OOo 2.0
