Description ingenstans 2005-02-08 20:59:34 UTC
This is intermittent, so I will attach the document I was working on when it hit
me. Editing an .sxw file using m77 I have had two problems.

1) I can't delete carriage returns (at the end of paragraphs). If I go to the
beginning of the following paragraph and backspace, nothing happens. If I go to
the end of the preceding paragraph and press delete, the cursor slides forward
to the start of the next lie, as if I had press right-arrow. But the <cr> is not
deleted.

The workaround is to select the region with the carriage return in, and then
delete that -- but

2) making this selection and deleting sometimes crashes the whole program.

I can't reproduce this reliably, but I can't stop it, either. I shall attach the
document I have been working on (though I can't see anything funny) and the
crash report, copied and pasted from the crashrep tool.

Comment 3 michael.ruess 2005-02-09 11:48:33 UTC
It is the same problem as described in issue 41732. Will be fixed soon.

I could not reproduce a crash. Did you send the report (at least I didn't find
crash info send by you about m77 in the database)? The crash info does not
provide the needed information. Only the one which is sent to the database can
do this. We should open a new issue for the crash, if it still happens when
41732 is integrated into the product.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 41732 ***
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2005-02-09 11:49:25 UTC
Closing duplicate.
Comment 5 ingenstans 2005-02-09 13:40:50 UTC
mru: I'm sorry for the dupe. I searched and couldn't find anything that
mentioned deleting or carriage returns. And the crash report was sent in
automatically, though from a different email, I think.
Comment 6 ingenstans 2005-02-09 13:44:34 UTC
Actually, now I have looked at #41732, I'm not sure this is a duplicate of it.
That reports that you can't delete paragraphs between heading styles. But there
were no heading styles in the region where I had problems. I was working towards
the end of the document, in a region that was all default text. Still, I will
wait and see what effect the fix has.
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2005-02-09 14:03:49 UTC
Nevermind for submitting a duplicate... ;-)
Actually you didn't explicitly use a Heading style, but have a look into
"Tools.Outline numbering": There you have assigned the default style to an
outline level; thus it is handled as a heading style.
Comment 8 ingenstans 2005-02-09 16:00:30 UTC
oh, of course! It's my trick for using the navigator as an outlining mechanism:
if default text is assigned to numbering level 6 or something, you can see the
start of every paragraph in the navigator even when they're not headings.
Very helpful when re-ordering long documents.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Comment 9 ingenstans 2005-02-09 16:07:19 UTC
Now that I have looked at and edited this paragraph style, I have found
something else. I know the numbering level of default text was not set to 1 by
me, which it is in this document. Something has reset it, and that's another
bug. I won't file it, though, until I can see it happening again.
Comment 10 ingenstans 2005-02-09 16:13:12 UTC
Ah: now I see. I have been bitten by #41760 in an earlier build but because I
use invisible numbering, I hadn't noticed until this bug makes it obvious. And
this explains why every time I have opened an old document recently I have been
getting messages about styles not corresponding to the default.

At least I managed not to file the 15th duplicate of 41760 :-)
